History
In 2004, the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling and the Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling began working closely together on our shared mission to address problem gambling in our region. In 2007, the Indiana and Kentucky Councils were joined by our sister organizations from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. The expanded group is called the Midcentral Alliance on Problem Gambling. In 2008 and 2009, the Alliance was joined by our sister organizations from Wisconsin and Minnesota respectively. In addition to the eight NCPG affiliates, the group has been joined by other organizations working to address problem gambling and we welcomes new member organizations.

Activities
In late September or early October, the Alliance hosts a regional conference known as the Midcental Conference on Problem Gambling. This event's location changes each year to better afford an opportunity for new attendees. Members of these organizations and other NCPG affiliates receive a reduced conference registration fee. Registration cost is held below $100 so that it is affordable for most people. Scholarships are granted based on need.
The members work together utilizing their collective resources to produce printed materials that can be used in all eight member states. These materials are available without cost from any of the Alliance members.
